Let Them Be Right. Knowing Nothing Really Is.

“In the lives of most human beings, everything is about avoidance of truth. The truth that we are avoiding is the Truth of emptiness. We don’t want to see that we are nothing. We don’t want to see that everything we believe is wrong. We don’t want to see that what everybody else believes is wrong. We don’t want to see that our viewpoint is wrong and that there is no right viewpoint.” Adyashanti in Emptiness Dancing

SoulBEarth Adyashanti Bryon Katie awaken awakening Truth belief alive As we enter the holiday season with Thanksgiving tomorrow, gathering with family, friends, acquaintances and strangers, so to intermingles our differing beliefs and opinions, programmed since birth. Before tension takes over and emotions heat up, can we take a moment to notice what is true: there is no such thing as an absolutely true thought.

Let them think what they want, knowing that no one is ultimately right or wrong, not even you. Let them be who they think they are, and breathe deeply into the silent Emptiness of what we all truly are.

Not Even One Thought Is True

“Concepts create boundaries. Concepts are boundaries, and they hem you in everywhere. Any concepts that the mind holds — like free will and destiny, choice and choicelessness, ego and the Self — create boundaries, limitations, prisons and illusions.” Adyashanti in The Impact of Awakening

SoulBEarth Adyashanti awaken awakening Truth thoughts mind For my book club, we’re reading an exceptional book called The Storyteller’s Secret by Sejal Badani. It’s a heartbreaking novel about love, choices, crossing cultural boundaries, and destiny versus free will. It gives a powerful account of India when occupied by the British in WWII, as well as the country in present day. What struck me as most interesting were the customs of the culture, particularly the caste system, and rituals in Hinduism.

Those born into the lowest tier of the caste system were called untouchables. They were deemed worthless from birth. When casteism was widely practiced, the untouchables wouldn’t even be given medical treatment if bleeding to death in front of a hospital. No doctor would touch them. Starving to death on the street corner was common, as no one gave a second thought about it.

It’s easy to look at the beliefs of others and think, how ridiculous, that’s crazy, how could they do that! But when turned around, none of your beliefs are insane, right?

What are you believing that is equally false? How about all the things you think you, and others, should or shouldn’t do? Who told you that? Why do you believe it? Is it true? Nope. Not one thought. They are all just as untrue as the beliefs you’re pointing fingers at.

Even the most spiritual, loving thoughts are still part of the dream. Any judgement, good or bad, is just made up. Not truth. Not who you are. Not who that other person is that you’re judging. Thoughts will tell you nothing about Reality and the unity of All. They only separate and divide. Go into the Silence of Truth and know That which is the true you, everyone, everything, as One.

Thought Is The Garbage Can

“As long as you are trying to become, trying to get somewhere, trying to attain something, you are quite literally moving away from the Truth itself. In order to cease becoming, you must reject the path and the journey. You must reject time, which means the future, which means that tomorrow is never going to come. Enlightenment will never happen tomorrow. Tomorrow is becoming, and becoming is time, and time is thought. Thought is the garbage can. If you look into the garbage can, all you will get is garbage.” Adyashanti in The Impact of Awakening

SoulBEarth Byron Katie Adyashanti Awakening awaken truth future Sorry for the long quote. There was just no good place to cut it off. It all needed to be said. Or does anything really need to be said? Everything we need to know can be revealed only in silence – the great open empty space of who we really are – out of which all words flow, all creation manifests.

These words remind us that there is nothing to become and nowhere to go that will bring us any closer to who we actually are, since all becoming and journeying is part of the dream called “me”. There is no path, no past or future, outside of what the mind makes up. What you are exists only now in this moment, which is every moment. The only time to wake up is now!
